Non Ruea Natural Indigo Dyed Fabric Community Enterprise ,Mor 13

Non Ruea Natural Indigo Dyed Fabric Community Enterprise was formed in 1992. Prior to formation of the group, the Community Development Office of Sakon Nakhon province introduced the concept of women organization in the village to restore indigo dyed weaving tradition. The group members were also trained on process of planting indigo plants and developing it for high quality indigo, which is traditional wisdom passed on from the community’s ancestors.

In 2001, Non Ruea Indigo Weaving Group joined the One Tambon One Product (OTOP) project and was selected as a 4-star product in 2009. At present the group has 43 members working in the indigo-dyed woven fabric production process: from planting indigo, cotton tying, weaving, spinning, to indigo cloth ornament making. Since the outbreak of the Covid 19, the group has had to slow down production resulting in loss of income. The middlemen who came to buy the group’s products also pressed for lower prices.

The group’s products include indigo-dyed woven shawls and scarves, ornaments, backpacks, purses, shirts, hats etc. There are a variety of patterns to choose from, long-lasting colours with authentic indigo scent and soft fabric that doesn’t irritate the skin.
