In 2017, community members of the Rattanachai Villa in Laksi got together for leisure activity: online learning on making herbal soap bars. The group then created own formula by using tamarind, turmeric and honey as the main ingredients. At the beginning, they made soap bars to be used in their own households to reduce family expenses. Later, with support from the Foundation for Labour and Employment Promotion, the group has developed skills in business management, packaging and online sales, and could generate income for the members. At present, the group has 26 members. Sales channels include local weekend’s markets and special events organized by different agencies

The group’s products include purses for coins, wallets for cards, storage for keys and bags. Members of the group also accept orders for making traditional food by using local ingredients which are inexpensive and suitable for events organized by community members.      

Currently the group has 93 members. The group’s product is processed food coming from tradition and local wisdom of Chiang Rai people. Keeping consumers’ health in mind, the products are made with herbal ingredients. The group sells its products at ‘weekend/community/local markets’ as well as at special events organized by government agencies. Pre-orders are also accepted.

‘Kalamare’ or caramel candy (also called ‘sweet sticky candy’) made by this women group has unique fragrant taste, low in sugar and preservatives free. Using organic black sticky rice produced by the network’s members makes the product a perfect snack for health-conscious consumers.      

The group currently has 31 members. Their food products include ‘khanom nang led’, ‘khanom thong muan’, ‘khanom dok chok’, ‘naem moo’, salted eggs, and ‘herb jaew bong’. The products are sold to local shops. The group also accepts pre-orders and offers training courses for interested people.      

Products include different flavors of banana crisps which are tasty and crispy. The group only uses new cooking oil. Pre-orders with no minimum are also accepted.   

Products include baskets, bags, glass holders and recycled baskets. The products are strong and durable. The group can produce based on customers’ needs.

The process of producing ‘Sang Yod Rice’ by this group is done by traditional method in which farmers crush unhusked rice using mortar to preserve rice germ and rice bran. Such method makes ‘Sang Yod Rice’ nutrient-rich food. The production also creates jobs for community members.

Products of the women group include boutique apparels for department stores, Thai dresses, skirts, blouses and trousers. The group also provides tailoring services. Members of the group have long experience with good sewing skill and their products are of high quality and well accepted.
