BANGKOK, THAILAND:.Garment workers (Dignity Returns).Subanna Phochai poses at the factory. Comprising 15 members, the Solidarity Group is a collective of former factory garment workers who are aspired to establish a workers-owned factory, providing decent work – fair wage, fair pay and fair working hours in safe environment – for all workers. They rent a building in Bang Bon, a suburb district of Bangkok, for their work space and their home. Their main income comes from sub-contract work for a Thai polo-shirt company whose owner is willing to pay the Solidarity Group higher than average rates for the quality they get. The Solidarity Group also produces their own garment products under the brand Dignity Returns to suggest their liberation from capitalist exploitation. Currently they have joined other home-based garment worker groups under HomeNet Thailands Informal Worker Association to establish a garment cooperative.
