Naling Song Koh Brown Rice Group

The Naling Song Koh Brown Rice Group was formed so that farmers could collectively bargain for better prices of rice sold to the middlemen, and to preserve farming of native rice particularly ‘Sang Yod Rice’. The group has been supported by many government agencies and the Foundation for Labour and Employment Promotion (FLEP) and successfully registered as ‘Community Enterprise’. Its rice product has also been selected a 4-star product by the One Tambon One Product Project (OTOP).

The process of producing ‘Sang Yod Rice’ by this group is done by traditional method in which farmers crush unhusked rice using mortar to preserve rice germ and rice bran. Such method makes ‘Sang Yod Rice’ nutrient-rich food. The production also creates jobs for community members.
